Pickup and arrival
Hotel pickup isn't included, though it can be arranged with the local operator for an extra charge; either way, aim to arrive around 19:30, since the café is one two-storey theatre running to a single fixed schedule rather than a venue with rolling entry. Rivadavia 2100 sits on the corner of Rincón in Balvanera, close enough to central hotels that a taxi ride rarely runs long.
Dinner begins
Dinner is seated from 20:00: a three-course Argentine menu with unlimited drinks rather than drinks sold by the glass. The kitchen works to one seating for the whole room, so the pace is steady rather than staggered — everyone's plates move roughly together.
The show, Side A
From 21:45 the five-piece orchestra — piano, bandoneón, guitar, double bass and violin — opens the night alone, before the first of the show's two singers takes the stage. The set moves from the 1920s style Gardel would have recognised toward Astor Piazzolla's later, sharper arrangements, with a touch of newer material closing it out.
The show, Side B
Once the orchestra's opening set ends, the six dance couples take the floor in turn rather than all appearing at once — moving from the close-embrace salon style through a more theatrical, wider-figure stage tango, built for a room watching from tables. The full company of more than twenty artists returns together for the finale.
The close
The show ends around 23:00 and the room empties back onto Avenida Rivadavia, a short taxi ride from most central Buenos Aires hotels.
What this means for booking
Because the whole evening runs to one fixed timetable — one dinner sitting, one show, no second seating — the date is really the decision that matters, not the exact table. Arriving inside the 20:00 window is the only way to see the evening as it's designed to run, dinner and show together rather than one lagging behind the other.
